Ronald Francis Poirier, age 73, of Holyoke, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Holyoke Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Reginald A. and Doris C. (Wells) Poirier and was educated in the Holyoke schools. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Gladys (Perez) Guyott; four stepchildren: Sharon Baranowski and her husband James, Marilyn Turgeon and her husband Ghislain, Michelle Guyott and Richard Guyott, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Lexi, Evan, Joli, Jake, Jenna, Alexandria, and Nicholas as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Belden. Ron was a master mechanic and owned Ron’s Auto Care in Holyoke for many years. He was also the former proprietor of Ron’s Small Engine Repair. A longtime Melha Shriner, Ron was a member of the Vintage Auto Unit. He became friends with many other business owners and shared his love of cars with his fellow mechanic, Junior, who was like a son to him. He enjoyed spending time with his friends Manny, Jesse, Bob, Al, Trisha, Ed, Rod, John and so many more. His wife Gladys and family are forever grateful and appreciative of the doctors, nurses, and staff at Holyoke Medical Center for the wonderful care they always provided to Ron. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 14th at 10:30 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Jerome Cemetery, 1666 Northampton Street. Calling hours will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
